loved the autumnal colours in the lane , but took a long time to show them off, I needed to increase the vibrancy of the back ground mauves and violets before the yellows sang out.

This painting reminds me of a tapestry, lots of small applied marks in raw umber, prussian and alazarin give the appearance of green mainly because of the pink background.

A Walk with Aunty Pam
Lovely low winter sun picked out bits of colour on these pine trees. Lovely red bark and patterns of shadow had to be painted.

Woodland Walk
Scraped marks made in the wet paint, loose brushwork, and palette knife with lots of colour.
Evening light on the reddish bark with some lovely shadows, a memorable place.

Ivors Plum
This old tree is obviously a heavy cropper.
The bent boughs attracted me in the first place, but the blossom was the icing on the cake.

Ancient Willow
This massive old and pollarded tree was a magnet for me. I enjoyed playing with textures for the bark, and subdued the background with more subtle shades.
