This painting reminds me of a tapestry, lots of small applied marks in raw umber, prussian and alazarin give the appearance of green mainly because of the pink background.

Scraped marks made in the wet paint, loose brushwork, and palette knife with lots of colour.
Evening light on the reddish bark with some lovely shadows, a memorable place.
In The Pink
I loved the combination of dusky pink with the turquoise and greys.
I am pleased with the effect of stumbling over the background to recess the distant boats.
Oil on Canvas 40 x 50 cms £220
Inspired by a local scene and a colour scheme I saw in an abstract painting that used the dusky pink, turquoise and grey.

This massive old and pollarded tree was a magnet for me. I enjoyed playing with textures for the bark, and subdued the background with more subtle shades.

Lovely shapes in the sand bars catch the reflected light. You can see why this is my favourite beach.

Distant tree covered coastline on a misty winters morning.
I liked the lacy pattern of light filtered through the trees. The mist softened the image so much it was hard to determine where the trees began and ended.
